| The Recreational Vehicle
Industry Association reported that wholesale shipments of 26,800 units
in September, down 3.6% from the same period in 2006. Towables continue to
show the most softness with YTD sales down 12.9% compared with 2006.
Motorhomes were down 4.3% in September compared with 2006 and down 1.4% YTD.
The year-on-year change in shipments (see chart below) indicates that
the industry may be headed for growth again in 2008.
In November 2006, the
RVIA reported that U.S. recreational vehicle makers expect shipments to dealers to drop more
than 11 percent to 341,900 in 2007 from an expected 385,500 units in 2006. |
